Caffeine Honeymoons

The three best cups of coffee I ever had were on honeymoons.
No, I didn’t take my wife on three honeymoons.
Follow me?
Christmas week of 1969 on R&R from Vietnam in Hawaii with my first wife, Pat.
I had been drinking Army supplied instant coffee in the field that was pure trash but the fun of lighting bits of C4, a plastic explosive, to heat up dreadful tasting stuff was a kick. So…my first cup of Hawaiian Island coffee was blissful, such flavor I hadn’t experienced in my life up until then.
Eighteen years pass and I find myself celebrating my second marriage, a positive note on trip was discovering Blue Mountain coffee of Jamaica!
Well, after having to scrape off a thin layer of granite from my crappy coffee at the steel mill, this wonderfully strong and velvety caffeine treat was to die for and as soon as we returned to Michigan I started paying twice as much as regular coffee for Blue Mountain that never quite brought back the real stuff on that strange island of strong marijuana and nasty goat meat.
The 21st century came along.
I just had to have another shot at marriage.
JoAn and I married in 2004 at the Chart House in Malibu.
Honeymooned down the street at the Fairmont Hotel.
We’d wake up mornings to breakfast at the Fig and again….
I don’t know how they topped my previous favorites…
but I was finally convinced that it had to be the best of the best…
JoAn and I occasionally return to the Fig for breakfast.
I always make such I say this is the best coffee I’ve EVER had!
We’ve been married now for 21 years..
Today’s caffeine comes from an espresso obsession😊
